Seeing the workplace as a potential catalyst for lifestyle change, this project helped employers in Bogota, Colombia, and Marrakesh, Morocco, integrate sustainable best practices into their operational procedures.
In Marrakesh hotel employees launched an initiative to collect and recycle old clothes. Several other hotels cut the number of meat dishes available on their restaurant menus, while others took steps to reduce energy use and plastic waste. Meanwhile, four companies in Bogota implemented measures to reduce food waste. All these initiatives resulted in a noticeable decrease in greenhouse gas emissions.
Using these examples as case studies, the project compiled a range of resources that workplaces can use to increase sustainability in their operations, and in their employees’ habits and behaviour. These resources were promoted through events in both cities and via social media campaigns.
