The Asia Pacific Low Carbon Lifestyles Challenge

Phase 1

Download Summary

From air pollution to plastic waste and climate change, for the 4 billion people living in Asia and the Pacific, life is quickly becoming unsustainable. To reverse course, this project turned to entrepreneurs.

Through a competition, the project challenged entrepreneurs to get creative and submit their sustainable business solutions. Each idea was evaluated on its ability to advance a low carbon, low waste, and energy-efficient lifestyle.

A total of 11 start-ups were selected. Through training, financial support, and individual mentoring, participants grew their innovative ideas into business solutions. These included a business reducing plastic waste in food delivery, a tech entrepreneur using blockchain to power electric vehicles with solar power, and a fashion designer turning plastic waste into stylish shoes and handbags. One team even developed an easy-to-use kit for converting tuk-tuks to an emission-free electric powertrain.

The start-ups are being showcased around the Asia and Pacific region, inspiring others to get creative about sustainability.
